Or here are some descriptions of local journeys to find us

From Airport by car
Leave the airport by taking the A8 road for Edinburgh, you will go for 2 miles until the Gogar roundabout. You need to get onto the A720 city bypass so look for the signs saying Edinburgh South & East. Stay on this road for about 6 miles and look out for the junction sign called Straiton. Take the Straiton junction and at the end of the slip road turn first left onto the A701 with signs for Edinburgh City Centre (South). Stay on this (A701) road for about 3 to 4 miles. You will go straight on through 2 main traffic lights controlled junctions signposts that will have Liberton listed. After the second of these junctions we are about half a mile further down on the left-hand side of the main road situated just after a right-hand curve in the road. We have a white signage display showing Brae Lodge Guest House name by the roadside. Free parking is off road in front of the house.

From Waverly Train Station
When you leave Edinburgh Waverly Station please use the Princes Street stairs exit. At the top then turn right (passed the Balmoral Hotel) until the corner of the road. Cross over that junction of *North Bridge Road and turning to the right, walk up that road and cross over into South Bridge road. Further on look out for the stop listing either bus service number 37 or 7. Either of these buses will take you here with no need to change buses. *At time of writing (April 2023) continuing roadworks are changing bus Stop locations depending on the works at the time. Now see the text opposite for local bus directions

From Airport using the Airlink Express bus service
Go to the airport terminal forecourt outside the main entrance and look for the Airlink stand A and bus number 100. This is a direct service to the city centre which costs £5.50 for a adult single ticket, this takes you to the last stop on South St. David Street, in Edinburgh city centre. From there walk back to Princes Street then turn to your right. Continue along Princess Street until you see the department store called Marks & Spencer. There you will find a bus stop which will list the bus number 37 on the display board to take to us. Now see the text opposite for further local bus directions

From Airport using Edinburgh Tram service
The airport tram stop is adjacent the arrivals and departures terminal. A covered walkway connects the airport building to the tram plaza. Within the tram plaza, visitors can buy ticket(s) which for a single adult ticket (airport & city zone) costs £7.50. This will take you to the last stop on St Andrews Square. From there walk back to Princes Street then turn to your right. Continue along Princess Street until you see the department store called Marks & Spencer. There you will find a bus stop which will list the bus number 37 on the display board to take to us. Now see the text opposite for further local bus directions

Directions for local buses from the city centre

The Lothian Regional Transport (LRT) buses number 37 or 7 from Edinburgh city centre comes to within a 100 metres of us and the journey should not take more than 15 to 20 minutes. All LRT buses now have contactless card payment points and the fare costs £2.00 per adult for a single journey (you should consider buying an all Day ticket at £5.00). If paying by cash please note that you must pay the exact fare price because the driver will not give you any change back.

From Princes Street, your bus will travel along the North Bridge road, crossing over to South Bridge road and traveling away from the centre and continue through Newington Road, Minto Street and Craigmillar Park. The bus then turns right for the bus stop on Liberton Road. After that bus stop there is one more on Liberton Road. After that bus stop there is a traffic lights junction and across this junction is Liberton Brae road, this is where we are.
You should now request to get off at the next bus stop which is called Orchardhead Road. (If in doubt ask the driver for the FIRST bus stop AFTER Liberton Road). We are about 100metres on the opposite side of the road from this bus stop.
Note: Most, but not all buses now have electronic bus stop annoucement/display board to let you know which stop is next on the bus route. Listen and watch for the bus stop called Orchardhead Road.

Do you have a smartphone? Lothian buses have an app called "Transport for Edinburgh" available from Google Play or Apple Store. You can buy m-tickets to pay for your bus fare, and so there is no need for money. And it helps you plan travel in and around Edinburgh on all their buses.
